WALLACE D. WATTLES

It's only a 2 or 3 hour listen on YouTube and I'm listening a second time now. I see a few comments on the lack of "science" in the book because Wattles frequently mentions God and there aren't many "studies" that I can recall. D Great book. Do not get hung up on this, or compare to a modern-day scientific work. For example, when I think about moments in my life where I and others thought of me as "great," it was because of something seemingly inexplicable.

Like a combination of preparation and an innate quality that is more creative than logical science. I don't blame these critics because that quality is quite difficult to pinpoint or verify. I love the topic of improving character, so I'm definitely biased, but I love simple books that get to the heart of the matter, and this is that book.

Thank you Mr. Wattles and RIP. Feb 27, Sudha Ayalasomayajula rated it it was amazing Shelves: philosophy. Wattles weaves succinctly and quite masterfully through many important aspects of living well: Having a unified positive mental outlook, building and living a stern and cohesive concept of self, knowing the difference between balanced helpfulness and harmful 'altruism' and leading a life of example.

The Science of Being Great: The Practical Guide to a Life of Power

I really enjoyed listening to this on LibriVox. The argument, that we all have inherent capacity and a moral duty to grow into our own personal greatness, is incredibly positive and compelling. The notion that life is inherently good and that badness in life is temporary and will be course corrected is very optimistic and appealing.

We have a tendency to focus on the negative so it is wonderful to hear an author try and focus on the positive. There was a bit too much religious discussion for my ta I really enjoyed listening to this on LibriVox. There was a bit too much religious discussion for my taste but not so much that it detracted from the inherent positivity of the message.

The Science of Being Great

This is not one of my favourite books considering there are some information that I did not agree with, and while reading this, I began to lose interest at some parts. Despite my negative opinion, I have learnt something valuable from this book: No one is evil nor bad in the world, and that the world is perfect, and also that we need to have the correct attitude regardless of what the world is like.

Lastly, this one fact left an imprint on me: "To be a God, you must act like one. Real Education All three books in this series ought to be taught in school or somewhere somewhere. Originally published in , The Science Of Getting Rich takes the mystery out of the accumulation of wealth and breaks it down into a scientific formula.

Here is an excerpt from the Preface of the book:. This book is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

Every man or woman who does this will certainly get rich; for the science herein applied is an exact science, and failure is impossible….

In writing this book I have sacrificed all other considerations to plainness and simplicity of style, so that all might understand. The plan of action laid down herein was deduced from the conclusions of philosophy; it has been thoroughly tested, and bears the supreme test of practical experiment: It works….
